Earlier this evening I read of the death of Gerry Anderson, the creator of such TV greats as Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet (to name but a few).
These were prescribed watching for me when I was a lad and the thought that yet another icon of my miss-spent youth has passed away has left me feeling a little down.
Rest in Peace and thank you for some fantastic memories.
Tony
Thanks for nothing this Tony. Gerry and Sylvia Anderson were a huge part of my childhood, especially their two series UFO and Space 1999. Growing up in Canada I missed much of their earlier work, including Thunderbirds - I only discovered that show in adulthood. It is amazing how much they were able to do in an era before the special effects that we take for granted today.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same kind of sadness I felt when I heard of Gary Gygax's passing, another icon of my youth.
Cheers,
Mike
