40mm AWI advert Wargames Illustrated - page 62

With the publication of Wargames Illustrated issue 263, Dampfwerks has reached yet another milestone. On page 62 is and advert for the initial release of the new 40mm AWI/ACW terrain pieces I have built and Dave at Grand Manner has moulded and cast. The range has been mentioned in earlier posts, but please forgive me for being so positive at seeing these models properly advertised and for sale.

I cannot promise that further posts will not contain references to this range (in fact I can almost guarantee they will!) But will ask for a little bit of understanding for this indulgence on my part.

The initial range of 11 items are available from Grand Manner see;
www.grandmanner.co.uk

One of the main reasons that this Blog has been so quiet over the last two months is that I have been trying to get all of these models finished, moulded, cast and painted. With this advert (the first), I can now take a little breather and maybe pick up on some 'shelved' projects.

I can confirm that The Miniatures Page (TMP) has three outstanding workbench reports/articles that should be published by Bill in the next month. In addition I am still awaiting written articles to be included in 60 Bloody Rounds (flintloque fanzine) and a range of Undead Bogorc's sculpted by me should soon be available from Alternative Armies.

I will try to increase the number of posts in September and get back to my usual output.

Warhammer World

This week I visited Nottingham and found time to visit Warhammer World. It's been over five years since my last visit and I was pleased to say that the thrill and adventure of seeing this modelling Mecca has not diminished.

I did not have too much time and rather rushed through the miniature display area (something I now regret) while the gaming room with all its dressed tables still has a WOW factor.

Rather than write a full review I will tell you that I saw an empty box of the new Space Hulk game (no figures or terrain - just the artwork on the box). It looks fantastic and as explained to me this is being released as a Limited Edition and stand alone game.

I know I still have fond memories of playing this game with friends and more importantly my son and I am very tempted to place my order now!

PS.
I once again forgot to take a camera - if you plan on visiting WW. I would recommend that you plan for at least a couple of hours and TAKE A CAMERA!

40mm Terrain pieces from Grand Manner

The 40mm terrain pieces that have been designed by me and cast by Dave at Grand Manner are now featuring on the Grand Manner web page. See; http://www.grandmanner.co.uk/shop/prodtype.asp?PT_ID=84&strPageHistory=cat

The range continues to grow with new buildings being added on a regular basis. The Stone Stable, Well, Cooking Pot and Log Store should be compatible with many periods from AWI right through to modern day conflicts. Should any reader have suggestions for additional pieces, please contact me on this Blog or Dave at Grand Manner.

STARBLAZER Pirates of the Ether Sea

Here is Starblazer comic that I have been searching out for some time. Issue no. 100 Pirates of the Ether Sea. I think the cover illustration has pieces of Aeronef, Space 1889 and even Warhammer 40K. In the end I would say that the story is only OK, a 6 out of 10. But no problem I have the illustrations I want and can see a pirate cutter model joining my Space 1889/Aeronef collection very soon.

The comic was picked up in a second-hand book store near The Bullring, Birmingham earlier today.

The new Games Workshop paint brushes

Earlier this week I picked up one of the Standard Games Workshop Paint Brushes, the new ones that have been recently featured in White Dwarf. At just £3.20 I felt it was good value and well made.

I choose the Standard Brush as I wanted to check one out before buying the whole range (or in my case most of the range).

Initial tests show that the brush is indeed a good quality item and I would expect to pick up more. In reviewing the single brush I would say that 8 out of 10 is a reasonable rating.
