I think it's only fair to show the four finished Boche crew alongside the resin Splata. For details of the Splata - how it was built and painted, see this link.

I've been modelling, painting miniatures and wargaming since I was a wee lad in Swansea, this blog details some of my interests - I hope that you like it. In 2010 I started a new modelling venture - building 40mm AWI/ACW terrain pieces and designing 28mm masters, which are then cast and available for sale from Grand Manner. - All original images and text are copyright of A. S. Harwood (Dampfpanzerwagon) - I can confirm that I do not hold any personal data on customers or followers of this Blog

The four Pax Bochemannica miniatures were undercoated with Tamiya grey primer before painting with various acrylic paints.
The painting progressed quickly - I enjoy painting these characters, particularly the striped pyjama trousers. The groundwork was painted in a darker brown colour and varnished before I added both static grass and tufts and here they are finished.
TonyThese four metal miniatures from the original Pax Bochemannica box set were based some time ago (around the time of my Pax Boche Themed Month - August 2020, see this post for the last update).
My intention is to re-model them as a Boche crew for the Splata resin siege machine that was designed and built by me and was at one time available from Hysterical Games, see this post for more details.
The figures were mounted on to 1p UK coins and the bases built up with Milliput epoxy putty.
I think they look OK with the hand weapons removed and can now be used for a whole host of different projects.

For some time, I've enjoyed watching You Tube videos of people who restore old hand tools and it's something I have wanted to try. I found this old wooden block plane in a charity shop while Sue was picking up some medication from the chemists and though at just £5.00 it was worth a punt.
Back home, I dismantle the plane into its component parts - there wasn't that many.
And then had great fun sanding and polishing the plane. I used hand tools and an electric drill as well as various grades of sandpaper/wet and dry paper to get to this stage.
Then polished the plane with some clear polishing wax.
These images, show the finished block plane and its markings. It was made by S. Ashton, Sheffield.

I had planned on a completely different post for the first post of October, but instead I'll tell you what happened yesterday afternoon.....
Holly came around visiting and although she is still socially distancing, we do see her on a regular basis. During her most recent visit, she brought me a carrier bag and asked if I would like some modelling paints that her boyfriend Mal, had found when sorting out his house. Obviously I said yes (I mean obviously I said YES) and she dropped the bag into the garage with orders that it should be quarantined before I could use them.
Once she had gone, I checked the bag and was amazed to find an opened box of Army Painted Mega Paint Set. When I removed the lid (I couldn't wait 72 hours) I found that Mal had donated over 50 bottles of paint and washes. Thank you.
I wiped both the box and the bottles with antiseptic wipes and here are the results.

Another post showing the finished ruined shrine gaming board, but this time I have added some of my 40mm Typhon or Greek Myth figures to give an idea of scale. In addition, I think the lighting is better. As detailed in earlier posts, this board was built using scrap materials that I had stored in the workshop or garage. I did not need to buy anything for the model and although it took way longer than the planned weekend - I like it.
