Yesterday, Sue and I visited the Jet Age Museum, Meteor Business Park, Gloucestershire and I was pleased as punch to be able to sit in the cockpit of an Avro Vulcan! The Avro Vulcan B2 XM569.
Here you see the pilots view.
and the main control consul.
The view the radar operator would have - facing backwards.
Sue in the navigators seat (also facing backwards).
and the Vulcan nose from the other side.
This is the image from the main cockpit of the Hawker Siddeley HS121 Trident 3B G-AWZU
Then me in the cockpit of a Folland Gnat. Just look at that smile, ear-to-ear.
Me again - this time a Hawker Hunter number XE664
it really is a very tight fit!
The Gloster Gamecock - this time a reproduction.
The Gloster Javelin FAW9 - XH903. A real brute.
Gloster Meteor
And then the first of the many - the Gloster E28/39
More Meteors - this time a T7 - WF784
and a F8 - WH3644
More Meteors.
And a Hawker Hurricane - V6799 SD-X
Last of the exhibits a reproduction of a Horsa Glider being constructed by the volunteers.
A great day out - I just couldn't stop smiling!

What was the Gnat cockpit like for size ? Watched a couple of Gnats earlier this year, and was quite surprised to see them on the ground - sooooooooooooo small.
