IPMS Scale Model World Telford 2019

On Sunday 10th November I was able to visit the IPMS Scale Model World show at Telford. I had not intended to go this year and had made plans to be available for hospital visits (my Mother-in-Law is in hospital), but as my wife, daughter and cousin were planning on being at the hospital, I was able to have some time free to visit the show.

Unlike earlier or past shows, I was not able to spend as much time browsing the exhibits but did manage to take some photos. Here are a selection of some of the more unusual models on display. I hope you like them.

Kennel Lane, Broadway - adding the foliage

The big step forward with this latest post was the adding of the foliage. For those that are not aware, I am modelling a 1:43.5 scale miniature of a kennel building I saw in Broadway earlier this year. For images of the original see this post.

There is still a lot to do before the model is completely finished, but even now I can see that I have captured the look of the original kennel.

Yahoo Groups - big changes!

Earlier today I received an e-mail from Yahoo confirming what I already knew - Yahoo Groups are going through a major change and all historical site/group content will be removed by December 14th.

I have been a member of a number of different Yahoo Groups over the years and although posting and new content has declined, I would still drop by and check what was new.

The Notables (Alternative Armies Flintloque and Deadloque group) has already made changes and a new AA board has been set up to post comments and even try to save some of the earlier and informative posts. For details see this link.

It does seem a little short sighted even criminal that comment and content that was built up over decades is to be removed and binned. A bit like the burning of a library!

I'll be cutting down on posting and checking back on the few remaining Yahoo Groups I follow - they will be missed.

Military Modelling - the yellow topped editions

I have in the past written about the demise of Military Modelling magazine and how I miss it. This October I was lucky enough to find these nearly new magazines for sale on eBay and picked them up for a song in the hope that they would fulfil my magazine craving until Christmas.

However this past week, I've been back and forth to the local hospital visiting my Mother-in Law and I can confirm that these second-hand publications have been very well read.

Uncle Midnight's Pumpkin House on Orcs in the Webbe

It has become something of a tradition for me to produce either a short story or a scenario for All Hallow's Eve over on Orcs in the Webbe and in 2019 I have produced this model of a Pumpkin House, in particular Uncle Midnight's Pumpkin House; for full details see this link.

The first is the Romano-British Shrine which was based on the Godmanchester Shrine and featured in Wargames, Soldier & Strategy issue 89.

The second is a scratch-built granary that was featured in the Pen & Sword book Wargames, Terrain & Buildings - The Napoleonic Wars.
